English Program for Higher Education Project/Medical Education

 

 

The English Program component of the Higher Education Project’s – Medical component offers general/Medical English training to faculty members and administrators in all departments of Kabul Medical University, Aliabad teaching hospital, and Maiwand teaching hospital and will soon expand to 6 Medical faculties across Afghanistan. The aim of the program is to work with the Professors to develop their skills and deliver techniques for lecturing and presentation abilities in English. Furthermore, the English Program is working on the development of English teaching methodology and to improve the teaching capacity in the English teaching departments in medical faculties across the country.

 

 The English Program for Higher Education Project Medical Education started its English training in the month of Decmeber at KMU and expanded to Ali Abad and Maiwand in February, 2010.  Grammar and vocabulary workshops, Effective Speaking and Presentation skills courses, TOEFL and IELTS preparation courses, conversation classes, and medical English classes are some examples of the classes the English program conduct or will conduct in these 3 locations. Additionally, the English Program has created a test that places the students in distinct levels, they are writing course books on Medical English for both the professors and students at Kabul Medical University, medical faculties in the provinces, and teaching hospitals. They are working on revising the curriculum for the English departments working at each of the aforementioned places.
